João Pedro Cachopo is Assistant Professor at the Nova University of Lisbon, where he coordinates the Critical Theory and Communication Research Group at the Center for the Study of the Sociology and Aesthetics of Music. His work spans the fields of philosophy, musicology, literary studies and media theory. He is the author of O Escândalo da Distância (Tinta-da-China, 2024), Callas e os Seus Duplos (Sistema Solar, 2023; forthcoming in an expanded English version with Bloomsbury in 2026), A Torção dos Sentidos (Sistema Solar, 2020; Elefante, 2021), translated into English as The Digital Pandemic (Bloomsbury, 2022). His first book, Verdade e Enigma: Ensaio sobre o Pensamento Estético de Adorno (Vendaval, 2013), received the Portuguese PEN Club Award for First Work in 2014. He is also the co-editor, with C. Stover and P. Nickleson, of Rancière and Music (Edinburgh University Press, 2020).
